The Most Interesting Billionaire Playboy

If you're a comic fan, Tony Stark is synonymous with alcoholism. Just like Roy Harper is synonymous with doing heroin and getting girls pregnant. And these are our heroes people. Shouldn't Lex Luthor and Norman Osborn be the guys battling dangerous vices along with the heroes of their universes?

In comic news this week, Geoff Johns replacement on Green Lantern has been announced along with new creative teams on each of the Lantern titles. Here's a quick breakdown:

Green Lantern
Written by Robert Venditti with art by Philip Tan - I have no fucking clue who Robert Venditti is. I know he's writing X-O Manowar and Demon Knights; two books I don't read. Tan I'm familiar with from the Agent Orange arc on GL. He seems to never live up to his potential. Like a really messy Jim Lee. This book should have gone to a proven writer(s). Particularly Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning.

Green Lantern Corps
Written by Joshua Fialkov with art by Bernard Chang - With an exceptional run on I, Vampire and outstanding one shots on Masters of the Universe, Fialkov has made me a believer. He should have gotten the main book. Peter Tomasi has been a force for a long time on Corps and he's getting a truly capable replacement. Chang is a lesser known artist in the DC stable, but he's super-reliable. He also draws in a clean style that I'm a big fan of. I have high hopes for this book.

Green Lantern: New Guardians
Written by Justin Jordan with art by Brad Walker - I know nothing about Justin Jordan and Brad Walker's work on Action Comics has been solid if not great. Tony Bedard and Aaron Kuder get me hooked only to be taken off the book. This one is on the fence.

Red Lanterns
Written by Josh Fialkov with art by Alessandro Vitti - I dropped this book after a few issues because it was bad. Also, because I don't think there needs to be a Red Lanterns book. There's not enough material to work with. At least there wasn't for previous writer Peter Milligan. Fialkov has all my favor and from what I've seen from Vitti he looks more than capable. I'll probably talk myself into getting this book.

Larfleeze
Written by Keith Giffen with art by Scott Kolins - This is a bad idea. Much like I can't believe the Red Lanterns got their own book, I really can't imagine Larfleeze is getting a whole ongoing to himself. Giffen has been off his game lately (Threshold?! C'mon...) and Scott Kolins is just barely organized scribble. If I could get negative copies of this book, I would.

Starting in June my favorite comic book universe gets a brand new direction. I'd by lyinf if I said I wasn't terrified.
