Legacy

Last night's Super Bowl brought us some "big game" trailers for movies we should all be excited about seeing this summer. In particular, Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness. Both movies look pretty great, and neither looks like they'll let us down as a part three and sequel respectively.

Now, we all know the history of sequels. Besides a couple flops, the second movie of a trilogy is usually pretty good. I have full faith in J.J. Abrams and Co. to fullfill that promise on Star Trek. The entire cast and crew has returned along with adding nerd culture golden boy Benedict Cumberbatch, so if this movie is a let down, I'mma be pissed.

As far as Iron Man 3 goes, the part three of a trilogy is a little dicier of a situation. Even ardent Star Wars fans will tell you Return of the Jedi isn't all its cracked up to be. Jon Favreau did such a good job with one and two that it makes me nervous having Shane Black behind the camera. Mostly because I don't think I've seen anything else he's done. Since there aren't any big cast shakeups, and no behind the scenes drama resulting in killing off Cyclops, I'd like to think they're on the right track. Plus, how can you go wrong adding Ben Kingsley?

There's a lot of nerd shit coming out this year. I'm sure in plenty of posts we'll get into Man of Steel, The Wolverine, Oz The Great and Powerful, The Lone Ranger, World War Z and more.
