Flattery

Where does Soss get his dashing good looks and smooth talk with the ladies from? His pops. The Original Gangster. Soss' dad has been carrying the comic book torch for many years and gets just as excited about going to a Con as we do.

Keep an eye out for a new late-week McSoss Comic Book Podcast which will update to this post when its ready to go.

  1. I've always felt that The Empire Strikes back was the best of the Star Wars series. It had a dark and desperate mood with the Rebel forces on the run as the full force of the Empire as aimed at them. When you blow up the Death Star things get pretty personal with Darth Vader. The Rebels were in complete disarray and on the run as the Empire sent robot drones to find them and At-At Walkers to destroy their base. This movie was very gritty and was a reflection on the way life really is cause the Good Guys don't always win. Even the arrival at the safe haven of Cloud City was a classic with Lando criusing out in that flowing cape and hassling Han Solo before hugging him warming in greeting then completely blocking Han out as he laid on the charm for Princess Leia. However the Empire had such long tentacles that even Cloud City was not really safe. Han frozen in Carbonite and Luke's classic light saber battle with Darth . ( Ian and I replayed that scene many times. )This movie just contained all the elements of a great movie and will forever be watched and enjoyed. Just writing about it makes me want to view it again!

I'm am extremely flattered to be the subject of the McSoss weekly cartoon. For someone who is as "Old School" in the comic book world as Iron Man's roller skates ( one of his early gadgets) I feel that it is a huge and lasting honor. Also to be mentioned in the same sentence with Lando Calrissian is the greatest. Thanks Guys !

  2. I remember reenacting that classic battle many times! Those were dark days for the Rebels who really had their backs to the wall. You would think that Han could trust his good buddy Lando to hook him up but in the end the Empire had it's hooks into even your most trusted friends. -Soss

  3. Firstly, much like young Master Dominic, Steve Sharpley is one of my favorite characters to draw. I'm sure there's still comic gold to be mined there.

Secondly, The Empire Strikes Back is hands down one of the greatest movies of all time. Period. I really have to dig to find anything wrong with that movie. Probably because its the movie George Lucas has his hands in least.
