Soss' Pull-List Review 4/11/13

Batman and Red Robin# 19
I didn't like very much about this one. Peter Tomasi typically has a good handle on the Dark Knight but Bruce was a little too nutty this time out. I'm certain Mr. Wayne would not be dealing with the death of his son in the most healthy way but dragging Frankenstein out of his castle and experimenting on him was too much for me.

I also wasn't a fan of the appearance of Carrie Kelly. Her inclusion on the cover was nothing but a cheap promotional ploy. I don't blame Tomasi for adding her to the story since this clearly came from the top of the DC hierarchy.

All is not lost with this book. If Batman is going to be written this looney then it would only make sense to get this man another Robin stat. Can anyone say Tim Drake?

All New X-Men #10
I miss the villains of the Marvel Universe. No other book highlights the good and bad of the current Marvel NOW! like All New X-Men. It's not good enough to have the current day X-Men fighting amongst themselves but now the young X-Men from the past are balls deep in the melodrama.

While the concept of this book works Bendis is failing to move the story past folks arguing on the front lawn. While there is a background story that involves Mystique and her newly formed team of baddies it's only about two out of the twenty pages of this book.

I'm crossing my fingers that next month we get into to some good old fashion hero on villain action.

Saga #12
Prince Robot IV travels to the distant planet of Quietus to question an author who he believes inspired Alana and Marko's actions. I love the characters in this book so much, even the truly hatable ones like the Prince.

This book comes pre-bagged since there are some graphic images inside. See how long it takes you to find the explicit image. I had to flip through it twice. -Soss
