This story takes place after the events of Avengers Disassemble. With no Avengers team to speak of who will defend New York from super villains? Besides of course the other thousands of heroes that inhabit Marvel's New York. Enter a young group of heroes dressed as versions of Hulk, Iron Man, Captain American and Thor.
The first issue highlights this new team and features various reporters from the Daily Bugle attempting to get answers to the questions: Who are these kids? Where did they come from? What gives them the right to call themselves Avengers?
Alan Heinberg's mystery story is worth the price of admission but the real star is Jim Cheung's fantastic art. This was the book the sent him on his current trajectory as one of the finest talents in comics so check this book out to see him starting at the ground floor. -Soss
