Soss' Pull-List Reviews 1/17/13

Thor: God of Thunder #3-4
This book is one reason I'm thankful for Marvel's fast-paced shipping schedule. The tale of Thor through the ages and his hunt of The God Butcher is a must read. This is the Mighty Thor we have all been waiting to see.

Jason Aaron does a fine job of highlighting the differences between the three versions of Thor. The young, brash god from the age of Vikings is pretty tough to root for. Arrogant and blind to the fact that he is battling a foe that eats gods for breakfast. Old King Thor is a broken man. His kingdom is in ruins and his family long gone. He even has managed to lose his arm along the way. Luckily, Modern Age Thor is resilient enough to piece together the parts of this mystery and begins to track The God Butcher through time.

While I'm not to thrilled that The God Butcher has a striking resemblance to Voldemort he still is a frightening character. Some writers seem to have a problem finding appropriate villains for the most powerful of heroes but Aaron has created a perfect opposing force to the God of Thunder.  Esad Ribic's artwork is breathtaking. This is the first time I've been exposed to his work but I'm now a big fan.

Note to Hollywood, if you ever make Thor 3 THIS should be the plot! -Soss
