Marvel must want me to hate Spider-Man. I don't know why they feel the need to mess with the things that make this character tick. In the aftermath of Amazing Spider-Man #700, Marvel put the brain of Doctor Octopus into Peter Parker's body, essentially making their flagship hero a villain. This is one of the worst comic gimmicks I've seen in a long time. Would anyone want to read a Superman book where the Man of Steel was actually Lex Luthor? I would guess not.
At least I can take comfort that it is comics, and in comics nothing is permanent except that Uncle Ben will stay dead. I shouldn't say that out loud; don't want to give Dan Slott any ideas. -Soss
