Back In The Day
Oh how the tides have turned. There was a time when even hardcore comic book fans would scoff at the likes of Green Lantern and Aquaman. Now they're the stars of two of the best selling books on the shelves.
Meanwhile, due to constant mismanagement, the two (arguably) most recognizable heroes on the planet are floundering in pure garbage. Actually, Spider-Man's books are selling quite well. Its only after they're bought and paid for to see the spectacle that the reader realizes the inside is sheer ridiculousness.
I don't run DC or Marvel. Clearly. But it doesn't seem like the formula for Superman and Spider-Man should be all that hard to nail down.
Ultimately comic book storytelling is cyclical. The day will come around again when Aquaman is only the guy who talks to fish and Spider-Man is Peter Parker, not Doc Ock in Peter Parker's body. That sounds just as ridiculous typed out as it does in my head.
