Batgirl: Year One #1
In standard Year One fashion Batgirl: Year One tells the origin story of Barbara Gordon. Writers Scott Beatty and Chuck Dixon explore the subtle nuance of what drove Barbara to become a vigilante and who her true inspiration is for putting on the cape and the cowl.

We get to follow a Gordon fresh out of college as she looks to follow in her father footsteps as a police office. By as she gets shut down at every turn she looks towards other avenues to combat Gotham’s outbreak of masked lunatics.

Marco Martin is fast becoming one of my favorite artists. His simple, elegant line work is wonderful. The muted color palette used by Javier Rodriguez fits Gotham City perfectly. Batgirl: Year One is a chance to swing along the rooftops with the original Batgirl during her first few adventures that I feel ll bat fans will enjoy. -Soss
