Heroes Legacy

As the comic says, NBC is bringing Heroes back. Remember that show? "Save the cheerleader, save the world," and all that? It was pretty awesome for one season, then the writers' strike majorly derailed it and it could never get back on track after. Well with the big superhero TV movement (see Arrow, Marvel's Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D.), NBC wants to get in on the action with a property of their own.

I was a fan of the original. I was deep in the lives of brothers Nathan and Peter Petrelli, the invulnerable Claire Bennett and the evil Sylar. The problem with a new series is much like the problem with new Star Wars media: people want to see Luke, Han and Leia, not Kanan, Ezra or Ashoka Tano. Similarly, I want to see Hayden Panettiere and Zachary Quinto reprise their Heroes roles of Bennett and Sylar. Small problem: they're more famous now and balls deep in their own projects. I suppose Masi Oka can be pried away from his bit role on Hawaii 5-0 and I'm sure Milo Ventimiglia could use the paycheck. But ultimately, creator Tim Kring has his hands full trying to recreate the magic the original run premiered with. Superhero fare has come a long way since 2006. The bar has been set much higher these days.
