Soss' Pull-List Reviews 11/21/12

Fantastic Four #1
These first issue's from Marvel NOW! have been a mixed bag. Some like seem to start from scratch while others pick up where the previous series left off. Fantastic Four picks up with a story already in progress. Reed Richards molecules are decaying at an alarming rate and with no known cure in the multiverse it is up to Marvel's First Family to travel the cosmos to find a cure. Not a bad read but nothing intriguing here. Matt Fraction serves up another bland one. I'm going to just have to except that I'm not a fan.

Mark Bagley's art is nice and a good fit for this team book. A smooth look for a classic group of heroes. Fantastic Four wasn't awful but I'll have to think long and hard about getting issue#2.

Thor: God of Thunder #1
The first installment of Marvel NOW!'s Thor title is a tale of three different era's of the Odinson. In the distant past the head of a deceased god washes up on the ancient shores of Iceland. A young Thor uncovers this and wonders who could be powerful enough to kill a god?

The story unfolds through the present on an alien world where their gods have forsaken them. Finally we see Thor as the last standing God left to fend off the for forces of Gorr the God Butcher.

This is an interesting setup by Jason Aaron. He seems up to the task of makings he comic book The God of Thunder as entertaining as his on screen counterpart.

Esad Ribic channels his inner Frank Frazetta. His painted work is beautiful and a perfect fit for a tale about Viking god's.

Panel of the Week: Thor in space!
