Opinions Are Like Assholes
Over the last couple weeks, my cohorts and I have run the gamut of opinions over everything involving the Star Wars universe. If the announcement of Disney buying Lucasfilm did anything, it was to prove that Star Wars as a brand is alive and well.
Cheif among the debates is who/what should this new movie be about? Old Hamill, Fisher and Ford? Recast the Big Three? Base the new trilogy on Luke's kids after Luke, Leia and Han are dead? Or even Kevin Smith's silly idea of having a Boba Fett time travel adventure where he can time travel to any point in Star Wars history. C'mon, Smith. You can do better than that.
Personally, I don't want to see Boba Fett. He'd be old now and I don't want to see ANOTHER generation of Fett's. Create another bounty hunter. Use your imaginations, kids. Also, NO DARTH VADER. I'm in favor of no Sith's whatsoever. Though I think that's a very unfavorable opinon and I've already been booed a few times for voicing it.
This is a new generation, a universe removed from all the previous goings on. Don't do what George Lucas did with the Prequels and fall back on what was popular before just to gain favor again. We don't need to see symmetry in all three trilogies. Give us something new.
The bottom line is these new movies are going to be popular no matter what's in them. Lucas did his best to make garbage with I, II and III and those still made a bajillion dollars. But if we're going to have garbage, I'd at least like it to be new garbage.
