Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman #1
Gail Simone and Ethan Van Sciver collaborate on this DC Digital First starring everyone’s favorite Amazon. I love both of these creators and was excited for a new and fresh take on Princess Diana. What I got was a weird Elseworlds-style story.
Batman and Robin have been defeated by Gotham’s rogues, leaving the city in a state of peril. The Oracle has a number of heroes she considers to call for aid before she settles on Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman swoops in and dispatches Batman’s most feared enemies with ease. She even comments on “not seeing what the big fuss is all about” as she blasts through the likes of Two-Face and Mr. Freeze.
I was hoping to see a story that made Wonder Woman’s villains more compelling, not one that made the best rogues gallery in pop culture look like a fucking joke. This strange plot choice coupled with the hasty pencils will make me think twice before downloading another DC Digital First. -Soss
Panel of the Week: Is there something sexual about "Would you like ice with that" that I'm missing?
