All-New X-Factor #1
The third time doesn’t seem to be the charm for Peter David and the latest incarnation of X-Factor. David has delivered two critically acclaimed versions of this title, the first was a government-sponsored organization and the second a private detective agency. This time out we find our merry mutants as a branch of a corporation called Serval.

This first issue reads like a thousand #1 team books before it. You recruit the featured character of the book, in this case everyone’s favorite Cajun, Gambit. We get introduced to hard-ass character Polaris and wisecracking Quicksilver. Then it’s off to their first mission as a team. Nothing groundbreaking or engaging here.

Carmine Di Giandomenico hooks up the art but other than some nice looking pages there is nothing all that impressive here. If you want to read a good version of X-Factor you would be much better served checking out David and Larry Stroman's issues from the 1990s. -Soss

Panel of the Week: All and all this is a nice looking book. Boring, but nice looking.
