I think Black Widow #1 was supposed to be a mash-up of super heroics and Mission Impossible. That sounds great as a premise but it fell flat for me. I wasn't attached to this portrayal of Natasha Romanoff one bit. She was written in a way that I honestly didn't care what happened to her. Not exactly what you would be hoping for in a spy thriller.
I'm not gonna lie, I bought this book strictly for Phil Noto's artwork. I'm happy to say that he once again brought his A-game. I love how he pulls off a monochromatic, non-inked style and makes it work every time. Hopefully I'll warm up to this book. -Soss
