Paula Cole would be jacked at the particular lack of cowboys (villains) in the Marvel Universe. I generally don't read Marvel books. If you follow along with my Pull-List Reviews, you'll see its all DC.
But talking to actual Marvel fans, there doesn't seem to be many villains around anymore. From Civil War on, the bulk of the Marvel storytelling has been hero vs. hero. Besides Spider-Man, who always has a moral compass, the Marvel U. is populated with gray-area heroes. Heroes who aren't as morally ambiguous as the Punisher, but heroes (Captain America & Cyclops) that should be able to work it out without coming to physical blows.
That, however, doesn't sell books. Kang and Baron Zemo don't carry the emotional punch that they used to. If they ever did. So as long as Marvel continues to own the market share, our favorite baddies will continue to ride the pine while our "heroes" continue to take center stage.
