In the mid 1980's Star Trek's Mr. Spock sacrificed his life to save the crew of the starship Enterprise. He was the first fictional character I can remember dying so it was a pretty big deal to me.
What lessons did I learn from this fictional death? Did Spock's selflessness open my eyes to see that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one? Did I grow up to be equally logical and heroic? If you have listened to our podcast then you know the answer is a resounding NO. I learned from Spock, Optimus Prime and a host of other fictional characters that if you are popular enough the fans will demand your resurrection. Too bad that real life isn't like the comics and films. -Soss
