Amazing Spider-Man #9
We waited years to get Peter Parker back in the red and blue tights only to have Morlun murder him in the first few pages of Spider-Verse !? Well... the Peter Parker from the Moon universe of Earth 449. I guess that's okay.
Morlun and his family have been traveling the multiverse by way of The Great Web slaughtering Spider-Men for centuries. With the full force of this evil headed to Earth 616 to eliminate "the greatest Spider-Man of them all," it's about time for a massive crossover. Dan Slott brings every Spider inspired hero out of the toy chest to play. Cosmic Spider-Man, Scarlet Spider, Spider-Gwen and even Spider-Ham join the battle to protect the Peter Parker of the 616.
Oliver Coipel's art is the big draw here. Every page is filled with web-slinging goodness. Shit, he even made Spider-Ham look kind of cool.
I've always liked Morlun and I'm intrigued by the idea of a family of vampires going up against the entire Spider-crew. As long as they can keep the story tight I'm going to go along for the ride. I'm just looking for one good Spider-Man story this year. Is that too much to ask? -Soss
Panel of the Week: Spiders as far as the eye can see.
