Gint's 2-17-16 Pull-List Review

Only one book on the Pull-List this week? Yep. One book.

First (and only) Place:
Star Wars #16

Its a sad day for me since artist Stuart Immonen has left the book. He helped an okay book become a great book. He will be missed. His replacement? Marvel mainstay Leinil Yu. Yu has been a quiet favorite of mine since Secret Invasion. Since I don't buy a lot of Marvel books, I haven't seen his work in quite a while. His storytelling sensibilities are just as strong as Immonen, but their styles of linework and blacks are markedly different. So far so good for Yu who had a tough act to follow.

This book picks up after the Vader Down crossover with the Rebellion capturing Vader's agent Doctor Aphra. She's taken to the rebel prison that sits directly behind a sun. Like all prison's it's impenetrable... until it isn't. The Empire has put bounty hunters on the... well, hunt, for Aphra and sure enough, they find her. Meanwhile, Luke and Han are bonding while Han loses a LOT of the Rebellion's credits.

The more Jason Aaron works with the main cast of the Original Trilogy, the more of a grip he has on who they are and how they speak. Yu helps with some pretty strong likenesses but Aaron's really getting comfortable in a galaxy far, far away.

Panel of the Week:

This panel could have been pulled right from Star Wars its so spot on.
