Marvel's Jessica Jones #1 is a preview tie-in book to get fans familiar and excited for the Netflix series of the same name debuting November 20th. In my opinion this book fails on both accounts.
We are induced to Jessica as she is searching a hospital for a gangster that was savagely beaten earlier that night. We quickly learn that Jones is a private eye and the man she is looking for is Turk, a drug dealer featured in the Daredevil Netflix series. The reader gets a splash page of DD kicking ass but shouldn’t this book be more about who Jones is?
Admittedly I don’t know much about her or her powers so I was hoping that this preview comic would be a quick crash course. I know, I’m a terrible Marvel Zombie. I did however like the series of teaser trailers released a few weeks ago. I appreciated how co-creator David Mack's watercolor style was woven into the production of these shorts.
