A lot of the mythologies we've grown up on require quite a bit of suspension of disbelief. Superman and He-Man have done their best to corner that market. No matter how a writer will try to update Supes' secret identity, at some point you just have to stop trying to make it work and just believe that it does.
Prince Adam is just a lost cause. And does he even NEED a secret identity? His family is pretty high profile. Its not like they're NOT in the spotlight anyhow. And wouldn't they be proud that their bumbling son is the savior of Eternia? And wouldn't Teela be much more likely to drop those drawers for some "Snake Mountain Mambo?" C'mon, Adam you're killing me!
It's like getting a Green Lantern tat and claiming it's the "other" Green Lantern. Or something.
