Is every book a #0 even if it isn't a DC title?! Let's get some actual numbers on these books next week.
Ghost #0
I should have know better then to buy a book just because I like the artist. Didn't the 90's teach me anything?
Ghost is about two reality tv ghost hunters who find a real life spirit. Or maybe it's just a transparent sexy chick in a towel. Who knows since there isn't much explanation as to where she came from.
Both of the main characters are unlikeable dicks and the ghost doesn't talk so I was left to look at Phil Noto's illustrations. To be honest, most of this issue seemed rushed. I gave this book the old college try but in the end if failed to provide me with even with the great art I had hoped for.
Wonder Woman #0
I enjoyed this old time silver age romp. While I wouldn't want all of my books to read like this it was fun for one issue. I'm sure this one was a blast for Azzarello to write. It's amazing how much exposition took place in those old stories.
Cliff Chang provides his typically beautiful work. His design of young Diana's costume had a nice retro touch. I liked seeing that War trained Diana to fight. It's makes her as menacing as any of her male counter parts. This reminded me of that "oh shit" moment in Secret Six when she shows up and everyone craps their pants. She was trained by the god of freaking WAR!
Justice League #0
Who knew that goofy Shazam could be so awesome!
I've really enjoyed the preview stories at the end of each Justice League so it was nice to read a full issue of this story.
The Wizard has been searching for centuries of a champion of pure goodness to harness the power of Shazam. Naturally he hasn't had much luck. Along comes Billy Batson, that shithead we've been following for the past few months. At first The Wizard isn't convinced that this young man is the right choice for his champion but when he looks into his past and sees the potential for good and it becomes clear that he has found the title character for these stories.
Frank and Johns are the perfect team to breath new life into this character. I hope they stay together when this book hits the shelves. Wait a second, wasn't this supposed to be about Justice League? -Soss
Panel of the Week: This is actually what two idiot kids would think after they were given the power of Shazam. The flexing cracks me up every time I look at it.
