The Defenders #3The Defenders finally get their hands on Null, The Breaker of Worlds but it turns out he isn't as tough or menacing as his title would suggest. This story is just drifting along with no sense of urgency and no creditabe villain. Even Terry Dodson's hard work on pencils can't make this an interesting read. I'll probably come back for next issue after that I'm out.Animal Man #6
I can't decide if this issue was a stroke of genius or a cop out. Red Thunder felt like a rip off of Kick Ass but I'm sure Jeff Lemaire is too clever for that. I wonder what role Red Thunder will play down the road. Both Jean Paul Leon and Travel Forman do a great job with the art. The contrast of the two different realities works perfectly.I was pretty bummed that I'll have to wait another month for the Swamp Thing / Animal Man crossover. I'm pretty sure the payoff will be well worth it.It's like Garth Ennis remembered that he needs to wrap this series up in the next three issues so he is making up for lost time. The end result is an issue that was more satisfying then this book has been in years. The pieces are in place for a grand finale. I have faith that Ennis has one last great tale in him for Billy Butcher and The Boys.-$The Boys #63
The Homelander puts his plan to seize the United States government into action. Wee Hughie comes face to face with A-Train for the first time since he murdered his girlfriend. Starlight leaves The Seven. And this stuff all happened in the first three pages!Panel of the Week: Red Thunder takes a stand.....right before he gets a beat down.
