I am an unabashed DC fan. This could simply be due to having more DC action figures than Marvel ones when I was a kid. But I think the real reason is, I like my heroes to be heroes. Too many of Marvel's characters live in a "gray area" of morality. Over the last decade, how many Marvel characters can you trust to always do the right thing, every time? I say Spider-Man and maybe Captain America. Other than those two characters there's a lot of anti-heroes running around the 616 Universe.
Superman has come under fire from some of my colleagues lately for being "too good." A classic knock on the Man of Steel. "Superman's boring, he's not exciting." I firmly believe that its not the character of Superman that's boring, but its the revolving door of writers on Superman books that prevent him from finding a cohesive voice and narrative through his character to make him just as exciting as Wolverine or even Batman (who's a huge douche).
Superman is the greatest hero of our time. DC should start treating his book as such.

Okay, okay, okay. We only tease you about Superman cause it's funny to watch you cry.
ReplyDeleteNow where's my Hulk strip?
There are no bad characters. Only bad writers.
ReplyDeleteYour Hulk strip is in the ether. But keep reminding me and we'll see if something pops up.
