Selective Universe Building 101

I can't help but feel that the powers that be at DC are using some of their clout to advance the movements that they want. Though with the successes of the Bat-books and the Green Lantern series' its less evident that those series are staying the same due to the names attached than the sudden emergence of someone like Grifter taking up key residence in the DCnU. Stuff like that would be more exciting if Jim Lee had created some cooler characters in the 90s. Guess you're not going to get a Spider-Man every time out huh?

  1. I think this entire endeavor by DC is a terrible idea. It seems like all we can do is look for the little victories. Like saying "Well at least the Justice League isn't suddenly filled with former Youngblood members." That just makes me sad that is all we have to look forward to with this reboot.

  2. I'm equally frightened and excited about aspects of the relaunch. What's bothering me somewhat touches on your point. If Jim Lee isn't COO or whatever, Grifter doesn't get his own series. I'm not sure Johns/Didio/Lee are being as objective as they need to be in regard to these characters and stories.

But lets celebrate the little victories like how Youngblood hasn't been retconned as the first Robin.
